International Women’s Day celebrated on 8th March 2020 was special, as it was celebrated during the Diamond Jubilee year of the Institute (2020) and the day was SUNDAY. The programme was inaugurated at 11:00 am in the Multiactivity Centre, near the new boys hostel -II in the presence of Mrs. Pallavi Padole, Deputy Director, Varadaan (NGO), who was Chief Guest and Mrs. Amita Shrivastava, MD & CEO of Amita’s Delhi Darbar Multicuisine Restaurant, Bhopal as Guest of Honor. Dr. P. M. Padole, Director VNIT presided over the function.
Dr. P.M. Padole, Director VNIT, welcomed the Chief Guest Mrs. Pallavi Padole and Guest of Honor Mrs. Amita Shrivastava. This was followed by impressive talk on “Women empowerment” by Mrs. Pallavi Padole. Mrs. Amita Shrivastava explained her journey on becoming successful entrepreneur and motivated the gathering. Dr. P. M. Padole, Director VNIT, applauded the efforts of women cell for conducting several programme for faculties & students of the institute as well as appreciated the women employees for their dedicated services to the Institute.
Dr. Anupama Kumar, Chairperson Women’s cell welcomed the gathering and Dr. Sheetal Chiddarwar introduced the Guests to the gathering. Dr. Poonam Sharma proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Deepali Deshpande smoothly conducted the whole programme. Dr. Meera Dhabu welcomed Dr. Sandhya Manjrekar and Dr. S. B. Thombre welcomed Mr. Deepak Shrivastava.
For the first time, International Women’s Day celebration was open for the spouses of the VNIT faculties and staff apart from the women employees of the Institute. The programme had two parts,
Cooking competition “Mood for Food”; this got an overwhelming response with over 40 entries including the sweet and main course category. Mrs. Amita Shrivastava and Dr. Sandhya Manjrekar judged the competition. Three prizes and four consolation prizes were given in the category of sweet and three prizes and two consolation prizes were given in the category of main course.
Simultaneously there was cultural programme. All the women employees and spouses of VNIT faculties exhibited their enthusiasm by displaying their talents in form of dance (solo as well as group), singing recitation and many more.
The Cultural programme was followed by Prize Distribution for the cookery competition. Mrs. Sangita Aware and Mrs. Aparna Mandavgane gave prizes to the participants. This was followed by Lunch. About 155 women participated in the event and enjoyed the programme. Event was a huge success due to the team effort of Dr. Meera Dhabu, Dr. Poonam Sharma, Dr. Sheetal Chiddarwar, Mrs. Vijaya Deshmukh, Mrs. Deepali Deshpande, Dr. Ramani Motghare and research scholars of chemistry department, Ms. Ranjita Das, Mrs. Pragya Aggrawal, Mrs. Rashmi Rahagude, Ms. Prerna Khagar, Ms. Vandana Shende, Ms. Prashu Jain, Kapil, Devendra and Kapil ingle. Everybody enjoyed the programme. All the women participants were given gifts at the end of the programme.
