“One scientific invention can change the world forever!!” Inventions include things like- the steam engine, printing press, the computer, internet, the light bulb, penicillin, and many more. In this modern era, Science is having a major influence on our day- to- day life. Scientific development has changed the life of human beings many folds by making lives better and easy for human beings. Therefore, science holds great importance in our lives. India has contributed to the scientific world from the ancient period itself. Now too our scientists are making it possible to be powerful with the technological upgradations in all related fields.

 “Without science, there is no change in the world.”

India has also contributed a lot in the field of science. Many great scientists were born in India and recognized India in the field of science and made a separate place too.

In 1928 an Indian Scientist Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman discovered a phenomenon known as Raman Effect and for his remarkable discovery in 1930, he got Nobel Prize, which was the first Nobel Prize in India in the field of Science and to mark this discovery every year National Science Day is celebrated all over the country in schools, colleges, universities and other academic, scientific, technical, medical and research institutions to widely spread a message about the importance of science used in the daily life of the people. The theme of the year 2020 is “Women in Science.”

According to Prime Minister Narendra Modi “National Science Day is an occasion to salute the talent and tenacity of our scientists”.


Continuing the tradition, as a part of the National Science day celebrations and also the VNIT Diamond Jubilee celebrations under the umbrella of Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan(RAA), VNIT Nagpur conducted a quiz competition for NMC school students on 3rd February, 2020. An elocution competition for school students was conducted at VNIT on the National Science Day theme 2020: “Women in Science” on 28 February 2020. In Quiz competition, a total of 24 students participated and the first prize was bagged by Sameer Jambhulkar, Rohit Kolhe, Abhishek Ankushe and Tarranum Khan   from NMC Dattatryanagar High school. The second prize was awarded to Ragini Balan, Umesha Raut, Saloni Kamble and Kajal Mhaiskar from NMC Barriester Sheshrao Wankhede Vidyaniketan. The third   prize was awarded to Chetan Bondre, Vaishnavi Naghate, Piyush tijare and Prajkta Dudhbarve from NMC  Durganagar. In Elocution Competition, a total of 08 students participated and the first prize was bagged by Ms. Saloni Kamble from NMC Barriester Sheshrao Wankhede Vidyaniketan school. The second and third prizes were awarded to Dhiraj Gupta from NMC Walmiki Nagar school and Chetan Bondre from NMC  Durganagar school respectively. The prize distribution was done at the hands of Prof. P. M. Padole, Director, VNIT. Prof. P. M. Padole guided school students about the various avenues to explore their dearth for science and to grab ample opportunities to explore their inquisition. Prof. P. S. Kulkarni, Nodal officer (RAA) presented the annual report of the various activities conducted under RAA at VNIT. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. A. V. Deshpande, Co- Nodal officer (RAA). The activity was co-ordinate by Dr. R . S. Gedam, Dr.  J.D. Ekhe, Dr. P. Mahale, Dr. M. M. Dhabu and Dr. P.H . Ghare and their volunteers. VNIT administration, teaching and non-teaching staff extended full support for successful organization of the activity.
