The First IEEE International Conference on Smart Technologies for Power, Energy and Control (STPEC) 2020 will be held in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur, M.S., India during 25th to 26th September 2020. This conference is Financially Sponsored by IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) and Technically Sponsored by IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS). It is jointly organized by IEEE Bombay Section Joint Chapter of PELS/IES and Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur, M.S., India.

The aim of the conference is to provide a platform for electrical engineers and researchers to present their research work and to share experiences and ideas in the area of power, energy, control and related engineering applications. The conference program will be having plenary sessions and technical paper presentations. Distinguished speakers will be invited to deliver keynote speeches on emerging technologies in power, energy and control engineering. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with the experts from these related fields.

Focus areas of the conference are Power Electronic Converters and their control, Smart Grid Technology, Renewable Energy Resources, Distributed Generation and Grid Interconnection, Electric Vehicles, Energy Storage & Battery Charging techniques, FACTS devices, Power Quality, Wide band gap devices, Control systems and its application to power and energy, signal processing applications in power and energy, semiconductor devices and circuits etc.

Prospective authors are invited to submit a maximum of 6 pages full paper on the following tracks (but not limited to):

About VNIT

Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur, India is an Institute of National Importance, located in the heart of the Nagpur city. It was established in the year 1960, earlier known as Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering (VRCE), named after the eminent engineer, planner, and statesmen of the country Sir M. Visvesvaraya. It was converted to NIT under the act 29 of 2007. Since its establishment, the institute is imparting quality education and is a pioneer institute in central India. The 215 acres campus includes state of the art laboratories, well equipped classrooms, sport complex, hostel facility to accommodate more than 5000 students, faculty quarters, library and information centre, network centre, Center of Excellence and a dedicated health centre. CIVN, the incubation cell of VNIT has incubated 6 companies. Recently, an academic block with G+6 floors for faculty members and PhD scholars, nine virtual classrooms, Girl’s and Boy’s hostel with 1000 capacity each with food court and other amenities and a class room complex with G+6 floors having 24 classrooms are added to the campus infrastructure. VNIT Nagpur runs 9 UG Programs, 23 PG Programs and PhD programs. It has faculty strength of 260. The institute is having 93 ongoing R&D projects worth 60 Cr. Institute is ranked 31st in NIRF. The green campus of institute is full of natural flora and fauna. The 1MW solar power plant, 600 KLD STP and many such initiatives are taken for sustainability. The legacy of 6 decades is being continued.

About Electrical Engineering Department

Department of Electrical Engineering is the oldest department started from the inception of the institute (1960). Over the last Six decades, we have grown our expertise and competence in the core Electrical Engineering curriculum and research. The Department has one UG program (B. Tech in Electrical Engineering), two PG programs (M. Tech in Integrated Power System & Power Electronics and Drives). The department also offers the PhD program. The Department is recognized as QIP Centre for M. Tech and Ph.D. programmes. The National Board of Accreditation has accredited the department with the highest grade ‘A’ for UG as well as PG programme in both the accreditation exercise undertaken so far in 1996, 2001, 2009 and 2016. The department is devoted to quality teaching, outstanding research and development activities. Department has shown significant research contribution in the broad domains like power electronics, power system, drives, renewable energy system, electric vehicle, control systems. The department has completed/ongoing research projects funded by various agencies having total outlay of 5 Crores. One technology has been successfully transferred to Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay. The department organizes national/international training programs/workshops at regular intervals including 5 MHRD funded GIAN courses. The vision of the department is to produce a quality human resource of a high stranded in Electrical Engineering who can contribute to the technological and socioeconomic development of the nation.
