Brief Bio
Dr. S.S. Umare is Professor (HAG), at Department of Chemistry, National Institute of Technology, Nagpur. He obtained his Ph. D. (1996), from Postgraduate Department of Chemistry, Nagpur University, Nagpur in the area of conducting polymers. He worked at Sheffield Hallam University, Sheffield, UK under UK – India, REC bilateral project and postdoctoral fellow at IIT Kanpur. He is a fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry Cambridge, UK, fellow of Indian Society of Analytical Scientists, BARC Mumbai, and fellow of Maharashtra Academy of Sciences Pune. His research interests are nanostructured materials and heterogeneous catalysis for energy and environmental remediation. He has published over 84 papers in peer reviewed journals and one book and teaching interests include Engineering Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Surface Chemistry, Green Chemistry, Nanomaterials, and Catalysis.

Solid State Chemistry of Nanomaterials, Conducting polymers, Bio-polymers, and Heterogeneous catalysis.Our group works mainly in the areas of design of nanostructured materials with applications in water purification, hydrogen generation, CO2 reduction, and photoelectrochemical studies.
