Brief Bio

Brief Bio
Dr. Susanta K. Nayak earned his MSc in Chemistry from Utkal University, Odisha, in 2003. He completed his PhD in Structural Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, in 2010. Following his doctorate, he served briefly as a Research Associate at IISc before moving to the Centre for Nano Science & Technology@Polimi, Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), and NFMLab-DCMIC "Giulio Natta" at Politecnico di Milano, Italy, for postdoctoral research on ‘In situ cryocrystallography study of nanostructured materials for opto-electronic applications’ until September 2012. Subsequently, he was awarded the Marie Curie Research Fellowship (IIF) and worked at Université de Rennes 1, France, from October 2012 to September 2014 on ‘Luminescent hybrid nanomaterial showing liquid crystalline properties’. Dr. Nayak joined the Department of Chemistry at VNIT, Nagpur, as a faculty member in 2015. His research group at VNIT focuses on organic molecules, utilizing crystal engineering, supramolecular chemistry, and liquid crystals to study biological activity and material applications, along with establishing structure-property relationships through both experimental and theoretical approaches.
