Dr. Ajay R. Tembhurkar is a Civil Engineering Graduate(B.E) from Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli with Post- Graduations (M.Tech) in (Environmental Engineering) and Doctoral Degree (PhD) from VNIT Nagpur; Post- Graduations (PGDBM) in Business Management and Graduation (LLB) & Post- Graduations (LLM) (Constitutional law); DL in (Medicine and Health) from Nagpur University and Certified Chartered Engineer (IEI). He has been teaching at VNIT Nagpur, PG programme M. Tech (Environmental Engineering) since last 27 years, M. Tech ( Construction Technology and Management) and guided 118 M. Tech students during their research, 1 M. Tech by Research , 12 PhD completed and 4 scholars presently working for their PhD under his guidance. He has contributed to the publication of over 132 research papers in journal/conferences of international repute. He has filed two patents He is author of Manual on ‘Water Analysis’. His projects have won “AICTE-ISTE National” awards for Best project in the year 2000 and 2001. In recognition to the contribution in environmental engineering profession he has been conferred upon prestigious “Jal Seva Puraskar” in 2019. His research paper is awarded with prestigious “Shri S. V. Patki” award, “Shri Unvala Awards” and “Kancha Reddy Memorial Award” for best research paper in IWWA Journal in 2009, 2010, 2011 consecutively and at NFiCE, IIT Bombay 2018. He has been felicitated as most distinguished Alumni at Platinum Jubilee Function of WCE Sangli 2022. He has been an expert member for suggesting guidelines for Clean Green MIDC; Expert Member – Research and Recognition Committee of North Maharashtra University; Expert member on AICTE panel. He was invited by President of India as one of the expert member for “Universalisation of Roshni” project at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. He is representing thematic group from India on climate change in BRICS Network Universities. He was Chairman ETL and Consultant/Reviewer for various projects in the field of water treatment, wastewater treatment, solid waste management, biomedical waste management and energy recovery from waste. He delivered number of key note Address at various national and International forums. He was invited by American Academy of Science, at Houston, Texas USA to deliver keynote address at EST 2014. Invitation was made to deliver Keynote address and Chair technical sessions at ICTCE 2015 at london (UK), Also made presentation at Green Chemistry in Berlin, Germany in 2018. He is active member of many professional bodies: Fellow- member of Viz. Institution of Engineers, IWWA, Life member of IPHE, IAEM, VIBHA and ISTE and Hon. Secretary of IPHE, Maharashtra State Centre. He is former Head of the Department of Civil Engineering of VNIT and presently, he is working as Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur, Maharashtra, India.
