Dr. Ashwin Kothari

Brief Bio
Ashwin Kothari has received his B.E. and M. Tech. degrees in Electronics Engineering in 1994 and 2005 from Nagpur University. He obtained Ph.D. degree from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur, India in 2010, where he is currently working as a Professor and Head in Department of ECE and held additional charge as in-charge Dean of IIIT Nagpur an institution of national importance for 6.5 years. He is an IEEE senior member and is coordinator for Center of Excellence of COMMBEDDED SYSTEMS: Hybridization of Communications and Embedded Systems under World Bank assisted project of TEQIP with receivable of around 90 Million US$ (9 Crores INR). He is also one of the Coordinators of Center of Excellence of EMC/EMI. He has several publications including SCI and Scopus and has contributed book chapters for reputed publications to his credit. He has guided 12 Phds so far and currently guiding 05Phds. He has 30 years of experience in teaching. His research areas include image processing, antennas and wave propagation, electromagnetic, communication and rough sets.
He has visited many reputed universities in USA including UC-Berkeley, UT-Austin, University of Akron and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). He has 05 patents granted and 02 filed to his credit. He has worked on many projects of socio economic relevance and has developed many working prototypes and products for assistive technology and other societal problems. Recently a team of five UG students guided and Mentored by him has stood fourth at all India level competition of Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge organized by MeitY, GoI and coordinated by IIT Madras and has won prize of Rs 20 Lakhs INR (2 million) and incubation support for the product developed. He has delivered many guest lectures and keynote addresses. Listening all kinds of Music and watching regional movies are his hobbies. He is associated with many social organizations like Gorakshan Sabha, Blind relief Association, Outward Bound Bharat-India and Saraswat Mandal Nagpur.
