S. Swaminathan Hostel, a residence dedicated to honoring one of India\u2019s most respected scientists and humanitarian leaders. The hostel proudly bears the name of Dr. Monkombu Sambasivan Swaminathan (7 August 1925 \u2013 28 September 2023), celebrated across the world as the Father of the Indian Green Revolution. His pioneering efforts in agricultural science transformed India from a food-deficient nation into one capable of feeding its millions with dignity and sustainability.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Dr. Swaminathan firmly believed that science must work hand in hand with compassion. His famous words, \u201cIf agriculture goes wrong, nothing else will have a chance to go right,\u201d reflect his lifelong mission to blend innovation with social responsibility. Through the establishment of the M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF), he championed sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, and rural development, shaping the future of India\u2019s food security and scientific progress.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The M. S. Swaminathan Hostel embodies this same vision\u2014combining comfort, modern amenities, and a spirit of learning. Designed exclusively as a single-seater residence, the hostel provides privacy and a focused environment for every student. With a total of 500 rooms, it offers ample accommodation while fostering a close-knit, collaborative community of scholars.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The hostel layout is thoughtfully organized as follows. The Ground Floor houses 114 rooms along with 2 store rooms for maintenance and supplies. The First Floor includes 120 rooms and 4 store rooms, ensuring efficient storage and accessibility. The Second Floor consists of 124 rooms and 4 store rooms, maintaining a uniform and balanced layout. The Third Floor also features 124 rooms and 4 store rooms, providing comfortable and well-ventilated living spaces for residents. Additionally, there is one Supervisor\u2019s Office and one Warden\u2019s Office , ensuring smooth hostel administration and student support.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Each floor is equipped with two water coolers to provide clean and cool drinking water throughout the day. Separate washrooms and bathrooms are available on every floor, maintained regularly to ensure hygiene and convenience.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">To support students\u2019 daily needs, the hostel is equipped with three modern, energy-efficient 8 kg washing machines, all of which are IoT-enabled and can be conveniently operated through a mobile application. This feature allows residents to schedule and monitor their laundry seamlessly, promoting both sustainability and ease of living.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The building\u2019s architecture emphasizes natural ventilation, spacious corridors, and well-lit common areas, creating a calm and welcoming environment. The hostel is surrounded by greenery, offering a peaceful retreat where students can relax, study, and connect with one another.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">In every way, the M. S. Swaminathan Hostel stands as more than just a residence\u2014it is a living tribute to a man who believed that science, when guided by empathy, has the power to transform lives.
