The hostel is named in honour of Dr. Kalpana Chawla (17 March 1962 \u2013 1 February 2003), the first woman of Indian origin to journey into space. More than an astronaut, she remains a global symbol of perseverance, passion for science, and an unshakable belief that dreams can defy gravity. Kalpana Chawla carried the spirit of India with her into space. In her own inspiring words,<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">\u201cThe path from dreams to success does exist. May you have the vision to find it, the courage to get on to it, and the perseverance to follow it.\u201d<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">From her early days as an engineering student in India to becoming a NASA mission specialist, her story continues to motivate generations of students, thinkers, and explorers. Kalpana Chawla chose knowledge over limitations, curiosity over fear, and service over self\u2014values that this hostel proudly upholds.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Kalpana Chawla Hostel has 290 rooms with capacity of 421 students (UG First year and PG Girls) and comprises three interconnected buildings or wings A&amp;B with four floors and KC wing with 3 floors each including the ground floor. The structures are linked by a passageway on the ground and first floors, allowing smooth movement and communication between both buildings. The campus features two open courtyards, providing natural light, ventilation, and welcoming spaces for students to relax, study, and interact.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">Each floor is equipped with:<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">* Separate washrooms and bathrooms<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">* Water coolers for drinking water<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">* Comfortable room layouts for residents<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\">To support convenience and hygiene, the hostel also features two app-controlled, 10 kg washing machines, allowing students to manage laundry easily and efficiently.
