VNIT Alumni Meeting at Mumbai on December 13, 2025

VNIT Alumni Meeting at Mumbai was successfully organised by VNIT Alumni, Mumbai Chapter on 13 December 2025 in Mumbai. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from alumni along with their spouses approximately 160, making it one of the most vibrant alumni gatherings of VNIT in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The venue Matoshri Sports and health Club, JVLR was completely filled, reflecting the strong emotional connect, unity, and sustained commitment of the VNIT alumni fraternity towards their alma mater.

The programme commenced on a nostalgic note, and rising to the occasion, the Mumbai Chapter successfully organized the meet with reinforcing the growing strength, outreach, and engagement of the VNIT alumni network, after the tremendous success of VNIT Alumni’s Pune Chapter on November 30, 2025.

The gathering was addressed by Dr. Premlal Patel, Director, VNIT, Nagpur. In his address, he emphasised the crucial role played by alumni in the holistic development of the institute. He highlighted how alumni can contribute meaningfully through their extensive professional experience, domain expertise, and exposure to emerging technologies. He further underscored the importance of active alumni involvement in curriculum development, mentoring of students, and guiding young faculty members to ensure that academic programmes remain aligned with global standards and evolving industry requirements.

Dr. K. M. Bhurchandi shared valuable insights into VNIT’s alumni participation possibilities in alumni, international development initiatives and ranking. He also elaborated on the institute’s future roadmap in the domains, with a focus on strengthening global collaborations, enhancing academic excellence, and fostering sustainable institutional growth.

Dr. Milind Atre, Deputy Director, IIT Bombay, a noted VNIT Alumnus and currently a Member, Board of Governors, VNIT, spoke about the indispensable role of alumni in strengthening institutional governance, elevating academic standards, and contributing to the long-term growth and reputation of the institute.

Mr. Joginder Singh Sond, Executive Director, VNIT Alumni Association, highlighted the strength of alumni networking and its capacity to foster professional collaboration as well as institutional support among alumni. He strongly encouraged the alumni to visit the VNIT campus and witness the progress of “Gurudakshina”, a state-of-the-art iconic building conceptualised, executed, and fully funded by alumni as a symbol of gratitude towards the institute. He also highlighted several landmark alumni-driven initiatives, including: VLSC, a unique initiative led by the 1983 batch, focusing on the physical and mental well-being of students; and Development of key sports and recreational facilities such as Chandrama, the football ground, lawn tennis courts, and an Olympic-size swimming pool, significantly enriching campus infrastructure and student life in the recent years.

Alumni representing batches from 1973 to 2025 participated in the meetup. The attendees actively interacted, shared experiences, and collectively reaffirmed their commitment to uphold, strengthen, and carry forward the proud legacy of VNIT through continued engagement and sustained support to the institute.

The successful execution of the event was made possible through the dedicated and tireless efforts of the organising team. Special appreciation is extended to Mr. Manish Ojha, Mr. Ankush Jhole, Mr. Sanjay Razdan, Mr. Harsh Saraf, and Mr. Sricharan Ananthkrishna, whose meticulous planning and relentless efforts ensured the smooth organisation and successful conduct of the meetup at all levels. Established VNIT alumni like Mr, Dinesh Waghmare, Maharashtra, Chief Election Commissioner, Dr Atre were felicitated.

The VNIT Alumni, Mumbai Chapter Meetup 2025 stands as a testament to the unity, dedication, and collective strength of the VNIT alumni community. With continued commitment, collaboration, and institutional alignment, the Mumbai Chapter is well positioned to further strengthen alumni engagement and contribute meaningfully to the academic, infrastructural, and institutional excellence of VNIT Nagpur. The VNIT alumni network in Mumbai is poised to play a transformative role in shaping the institute’s future.
