Training and Placement Section
The Training and Placement Department at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur is committed to providing students with a platform to apply their technical expertise and gain industry-relevant experience. It serves as a vital link between the institute and industry, facilitating interaction with organizations seeking talented graduates and postgraduates across various disciplines. The department also provides necessary support and guidance to students for career planning, professional development, and personality enhancement.
Training Programmes
A structured 120-hour training programme is implemented for all undergraduate and postgraduate students, seamlessly integrated across semesters. The programme focuses on strengthening key competencies such as programming languages, data structures and algorithms, domain-specific knowledge, aptitude and logical reasoning, and professional English communication, aiming to enhance students’ technical proficiency and overall employability. To enhance placement readiness, the department conducts a range of preparatory activities including mock interviews (both HR and technical), regular assessments, and industry lectures delivered by corporate professionals to share insights on industry expectations from young engineers. Additionally, orientation programmes, career seminars, and guidance sessions are organized to support students in making informed career decisions and preparing for higher education opportunities.
Internship Opportunities
VNIT encourages students to take part in industry internships to gain hands-on experience and exposure to real-world work environments. Internships offer an opportunity to the students to work in a professional space. This exposure helps them when they decide to join the industry as working professionals. The internships are a great way for the companies to attract the good students and monitor them during their tenure. Based on their performance of the intern, the companies extend a Pre-Placement offer (PPO) to the interns and inform the T & P Section about their decision
