Doctoral Program
The department of Electrical Engineering has a sound research base. With extensive infrastructural facilities available, the department offers Ph.D. programme in a wide range of areas in Electrical Engineering. The broad objective of the Ph.D. programme is not only to keep pace with the expanding frontiers of knowledge but also to provide research training relevant to the present social and economic objectives of the country.
The department is a recognized QIP centre for Ph.D. in the area of power systems since about 30 years and produced large number of Ph.Ds. Over the years the department has acquired expertise in the area of power system, control systems, power electronics, electrical drives and renewable energy systems.

MTech Schemes
Two-year MTech program
The MTech programs are two-year course oriented graduate programs. The student has to take a set of core courses and a set of electives. The course work is spread across the first two semesters with the option of taking electives in the third semester. This is followed by a project in the third and fourth semester in which the student can take up a project of his or her interest, supervised by a faculty member of the department.

B.Tech. Schemes
- 4-year B. Tech. program:-
B.Tech. program: The B.Tech. program is a four-year course oriented undergraduate program. The course work is spread across all the semesters. The courses include a set of core courses offered by the department, a set of departmental electives and some free electives. Apart from this, a student must complete four courses in OC/HM category. Besides, a student must also complete a project in the final year towards the fulfillment of the degree requirements.
