| Dr. Arghya Mitra received his B.E. degree from Jadavpur University in 2002 and the M. Tech. degree from University of Calcutta, in 2008. He did his PhD from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in the year 2015. He received POSOCO Power System Award 2016 for his contribution in the field of power system through his PhD work. Dr. Mitra has more than 80 research publications, along with two book chapters, in different international journals of high impact factor, including IEEE Transactions and several national and international conferences of repute. With two other inventors, in 2024 one national patent was granted in his name on Variable inductor and variable capacitor for power systems and for superior tuned oscillators. Dr. Mitra is working as the Principal Investigator for the SPARC Project titled “Global Grid: The Future of Earth” funded by MoE, Govt. of India having budget Rs. 30 Lakhs. He is also the Co-PI in the DST funded Renewable Energy EMPOWERING European and Indian Communities (RE-EMPOWERED) under EU-India Horizon 2020 Program with Indian side Budget of Rs. 9.15 Crores, and received another research grant of Rs. 5.28 Crores funded by MeitY–MHI, where he is working as a Co-PI, for the project titled Development of 15 kW Wireless Charger and 40 kW Modular Wireless Charger for an Electric Vehicle. He has successfully completed a collaborative project funded by BARC, Mumbai amounting Rs. 45 Lakhs. He is involved in several testing/consultancy related works. Dr. Mitra is the Co-Principal Investigator of the Capacity Building of Design and Entrepreneurship (CBDE) program at VNIT Nagpur under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Program (MMTTP) Scheme, an initiative of MoE, Govt. of India. Dr. Mitra is a Sr. Member of IEEE and was an executive member of IEEE Bombay Section in 2022. He was the Chairperson of the IEEE Bombay Section Newsletter Committee in 2022. Dr. Mitra was also the Member Development Chair of IEEE Nagpur Sub-section in 2019. He served as the Secretary of IEEE Bombay Section Joint Chapter PES/IAS in 2021 and also worked as the Secretary of IEEE Bombay Section Joint Chapter PELS/IES during 2019-2021. Till date he has coordinated total seven Short Term Training Programs, including one GIAN Course on “Electric Power Distribution Systems: Meeting new challenges with sustainable solutions”. He worked as an Organizing Secretary of two IEEE conferences, i) IEEE International Conference on “Smart Technologies for Power, Energy and Control (STPEC 2020)” during Sep. 2020, and ii) National Conference on Sustainable Energy (NCOSE 2018) during Feb., 2018. Dr. Mitra has more than 23 years of teaching and research experience. He has delivered guest lectures in different NITs and several government and private engineering colleges of repute. He is a regular reviewer of top journals in the area of power system and related field. His research interests are Power System Dynamics and Stability, Grid Integration of Renewable Energy, Energy Management in Microgrid and Microgrid Stability. So far he has guided six PhD students and sixteen MTech students. Currently two PhD and two MTech students are working under his supervision. At present Dr. Mitra is working as an Assistant Professor (Gr-I) in the Department of Electrical Engineering at VNIT Nagpur. |
