V.N.I.T. (Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology) provides excellent residential facilities for over four thousand students, featuring ten boys’ hostels and two girls’ hostels. Each hostel is well-equipped with amenities such as a telephone, television, sports equipment, water coolers, water heaters, hot water kettles, and a smart laundry service. Students have access to separate, well-equipped gyms for boys and girls, as well as convenient on-site services within the hostel premises, including night canteens, a juice center, cycle shops, and stationary/cooperative stores. Centrally located among the boys’ hostels is an Open Air Theatre (OAT), which serves as a venue for various student activities. Catering for all hostel residents is handled by three mega messes—two in the boys’ hostel area and one in the girls’ hostel premises. It is mandatory for residents to join the mess associated with their hostel, which is managed by a committee of student representatives. All messes offer a variety of meal options, including vegetarian, non-vegetarian, and Jain food. The overall management of the hostels falls under the purview of the Associate Dean (Hostel Affairs), supported by a dedicated team of wardens, an assistant registrar (hostel), supervisors, and other administrative staff.
