Welcome to V. G. Bhide Hostel, a residence that embodies the spirit of Dr. Vishnu Ganesh Bhide (8 August 1925 – 25 June 2006), a distinguished physicist, teacher, and visionary institution builder. The hostel is named in his honor to celebrate his lasting contributions to science, education, and the academic community of India.
Dr. V. G. Bhide was renowned for his pioneering research in solid-state physics and instrumentation. He also served as a visionary academic leader, making significant contributions to the development of India’s higher education and research ecosystem.
Dr. Bhide believed that education must blend knowledge, character, and creativity. Guided by this philosophy, V. G. Bhide Hostel provides an environment that fosters learning, discipline, and all-round development.
The hostel accommodates 482 single-seater rooms across four floors (Ground + 3), with approximately 120 rooms on each floor. Additionally, there is one Supervisor’s Office and one Warden’s Office, ensuring smooth hostel administration and student support. The hostel also provides physically handicapped rooms for specially-abled students and store rooms for maintenance and storage purposes. Every floor features separate washrooms, bathrooms, and a water cooler equipped with a UV purifier, ensuring comfort and hygiene for residents.
Modern facilities include Wi-Fi and internet access, CCTV surveillance for safety, and solar-powered systems that promote environmental sustainability. The hostel also features four IoT-enabled front-load washing machines, conveniently operable through a mobile application.
To encourage recreation and community bonding, students have access to Table Tennis, Badminton, and Carrom facilities. The hostel also celebrates major cultural and social events, such as Janmashtami and Diwali, as well as Hackathons, fostering a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere that blends tradition with innovation.
