The hostel is named in honour of the esteemed scientist and 11th President of India, Bharat Ratna Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam (15 October 1931 – 27 July 2015), whose life and accomplishments symbolize inspiration and excellence in the fields of science, technology, education, and public service. Dr. Kalam, affectionately known as the “Missile Man of India,” played a crucial role in advancing India’s missile program, overseeing successful initiatives for ISRO and DRDO. He led significant defence projects, particularly the Agni and Prithvi missiles, and coordinated India’s Pokhran-II nuclear tests, establishing India as a nuclear power.

The APJ Abdul Kalam Hostel offers:

• An IoT-enabled 10kg front load washing machine, situated on the ground floor, which students can operate through a mobile application.
