PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEO)
The Programme Educational Objectives (PEO) of B.Tech. Mining Engineering are established according to the industry’s requirements, in consultation with peer academicians and alumni representatives.
PEOs (Program Educational Objectives) relate to the career and professional accomplishments of passed out students after they graduate from the program. Consequently, assessment and evaluation of the objectives requires tools that can be applied after graduation. However, keeping the significance of contribution of the curriculum and the assessment opportunities, such as examination and evaluation results, placement data, employer feedback and higher education entrance performance, etc. are taken as tools for supplementary evidence to assess PEOs.
The curriculum is primary tool to prepare and motivate students to achieve PEOs e.g. their responsibility towards betterment of society and importance of lifelong learning. The curriculum is structured to accommodate core mining engineering, managerial skills and communication skills beside the basic science courses.
The curriculum is designed in such a manner so that it takes care of all possible options for mining engineering graduates to pursue their careers as practicing engineers/entrepreneurs/researchers/academics. Field visits, compulsory training, seminars and projects make them aware of the changing professional needs of the mining engineering field.
The Programme Educational Objectives of B.Tech. Mining Engineering are as follows:
The graduate shall be able to;
- Demonstrate the knowledge in the areas of mining engineering processes, systems and technologies looking into industry and research needs by exposing them to the latest technology.
- Understand the practical aspects of the mining industry and an appreciation for mining as a profession with regards to safety, technology, blasting and environment looking into economics and production.
- Apply knowledge in the application of engineering principles pertaining to mine planning, decision making and systems and invoke the desire for continuing education, research, intellectual and professional development and creativity.
PROGRAMME OUTCOMES:
The Programme Outcomes of B. Tech. Mining Engineering are established through consultation with stakeholders, keeping the graduate attributes and the Institute/Department Vision, Mission as a basis.
The main constituents for the program are current students, alumni, faculty and the industry, having representation in different departmental meetings. Input from all the stakeholders is obtained on various aspects of the program and deliberated in the DAB meeting of the department. Once accepted by DAB, it is presented to BOS.
After getting approval from BOS, the Program Outcomes are accepted.

At the end of the program B.Tech Mining Engineering, the student will be able to:
1. Exhibit knowledge of mining engineering and allied with basic sciences
2. Identify, formulate, analyse and optimize mining engineering problems of various domains
3. Plan Design and solve various mining engineering components with environmental, social and safety considerations
4. Comprehend and solve interdisciplinary engineering problems through system approach.
5. Select and apply modern and virtual engineering tool, Design and analysis software and state of art equipment to solve mining engineering problems
6. Demonstrate the understanding of social, cultural, environmental and sustainable, land usages and legal issues in professional activities for the overall sustainable growth of the mineral industry.
7. Integrate the knowledge of ethics and professional values for inclusive growth of a diverse society
8. Demonstrate the ability to work as individual and participatory learning through collaborative work and working in group as a member or leader to accomplish target for industrial project
9. Prepare reports to present and communicate inclusive technical information effectively by way of seminars.
10. Adopt and adapt technological changes through skill up gradation for lifelong learning.
11. Plan, organize and manage mining engineering projects for feasibility, adaptability and effective use of new-age technical, financial and human resources.
At the end of the program B. Tech Mining Engineering,
1. Students will possess specialized knowledge and skills to be industry-ready personnel for the further development of mining industry.
2. Students will acquire technical & managerial skills and know-how of modern design and planning tools to address present and future complex mining problems.
3. Students will develop capacity by handling live mining industry case studies through the industrial oriented projects.
4. Students will develop the perspective towards eco-friendly, sustainable, and safe mining to address the economical & social issues.
