• Best “S&T” innovation award from Government of India for KVIC sponsored project and developed 10 intervention technologies for creating self-sustainability & economic development of rural sector.

• VNIT Director Dr. Narendra Chaudhari was a part of academic delegation with Hon. President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee during his excellencies visit to China during 24th May to 27th May, 2016 and signed MoU with Hunan University, Changsha, Hunan, China during the visit.

• Dr. Mikhail Myasnikovich, Speaker of Belarus Parliament (former Prime Minister of Belarus) and  Dr. Mikhail Batura, Rector BSUIR, Belarus visited at Institute on  April 12, 2016.

• Four VNIT students received O.P. Jindal Scholarship (Bank Cheques of Rs. 80, 000 for each Engineering Students & Certificates) on October 2016. • The Department of Chemistry, got recommendation for Rs.1.38 crores funding from DST-FIST in year 2016 for 5 years. Claim is submitted -Grant yet to be released.

Dr. Anupama Kumar.

• Dr. (Mrs.) Indu Chopra, Scientist at Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, visited Dr. Anupama Kumar for training on the computational modeling for designing Molecular Imprinted Polymers (MIPs) for Atrazine , its synthesis and characterization  from 14 February to 4 March 2017.
• Jury for the technical session “Green synthesis and cleaner production” on 11th December,2016 at  The India international Science Festival (IISF) 2016, held at NPL, New Delhi during 7-11 December,2016.
• 10th Edition of the Hindi magazine of the Institute” Rajbhasha Prerna”  2014 won First Prize.
• Society of Pesticide Science India (SPS India) with its Headquarters at IARI, New Delhi  organized a 3-day symposium entitled, “Agrochemicals Research and Education in India: Appraisal and Road Map for Future” from 15-17 Nov., 2016 . The SPS India has invited Dr. Anupama Kumar to deliver a lecture on “Synthesis of molecularly imprinted polymers for selective extraction of toxicants” in the technical session on “Fine tuning pesticide residue research and decontamination strategies to address sustainable ecosystem” on 17th November, 2016.
• MoU signed with Jiangsu University, Zhenjiang, China during the visit of Honorable President of India along with the Academic Delegates during 26th May, 2016. Dr. Narendra S. Chaudhari, Director VNIT was one of the members of this Academic Delegation.

Dr. Sujit Kumar Ghosh

• Published four SCI papers during the period of 1st July, 2016 to 20th March, 2017.
• One DST-SERB National Postdoctoral Fellow, Ms. Sneha Wankar, has joined under the

supervision of Dr. Sujit Kumar Ghosh,  possibly as a first case in VNIT.

• Himank Kumar, Ph.D. student of Dr. Sujit Kumar Ghosh has joined as a Post-doctoral Fellow in Dalhousie University, Canada.

• Professor N. R. Thote visited Mineral Resource  Engineering  Centre,  Aachen RWTH University , Aachen, Germany. During his visit,  bilateral  discussions was held  with Director of MRE   Professor Bernd Rosermosser regarding possibilities of academic link.

• Professor N. R. Thote and Professor N. S. Choudhari, Director VNIT were invited on World forum  of Universities of  Resources on Sustainably to be held at Mining University Saints Petersburg, Russia during 28 Sept. to 2nd Oct. 2016. This forum was organized under the auspicious of UNESCO  and more than 60 countries has participated the event. The proposal of setting up a new ” International Competency Centre for Mining” discussed and VNIT is also invited as member on International Council   for this centre. Discussions  were also held with  China, Germany, Russia & Brazil University representatives whereas MISIS National Institute of Science and Technology, Moscow  responded for MOU with VNIT  which is presently ongoing.

• Department of Mining  Engineering has  started  UG program way back in  1982 in VNIT  in view of    increasing demand of   mining  engineers in the country. But due to provision in Mines  Act,  female candidate were not allowed to work in mine particularly female mining engineer. As a result, girls were not allowed to take admission in graduate courses of mining  engineering in India.  Chandrani Prasad Verma is the first  female mining diploma holder as well as Mining  graduate in India and later on done M. Tech also from Mining Department of  Now She has been awarded Ph. D. in Convocation 2016 from Mining  Engineering  discipline  under supervision of  Dr. N. R. Thote. Mining department feel proud of the record and breakthrough by her and his supervisor  under gender restrictive  discipline of  mining perhaps  in India.

• N. Thote was Member, Organizing Committee of  Int . Conference RARE2017(16-18 Nov. 20160  held at Bangalore and  session Chairman  during the conference as well as Session chairman for the prestigious Int. conference NxGnMiFu2017 held at Vighan Bhavan, New Delhi (15-17 Feb. 2017).

During the visit, the discussions were held with  Faculty Prof. Kadri of Mining The visit was also undertaken to different facilities of Colorado school of mines. Discussions were held for establishing academic collaboration.
