Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur has achieved a historic milestone by admitting 100 International undergraduate Students in the Academic Year 2026–27, marking the first time in the history of the Institute that the number of international student admissions have reached this landmark figure.
This significant achievement reflects VNIT Nagpur’s growing international stature, academic excellence, global outreach and commitment towards creating a diverse and internationally vibrant academic environment. The milestone is also a testament to the Institute’s sustained efforts to strengthen international admissions, promote global academic collaborations and position VNIT Nagpur as a preferred destination for quality technical education among students from different countries.
The achievement has been made possible through the dedicated and coordinated efforts of the International Admissions Team, comprising of Dr. Vishnu Pratap Singh, Dr. Arun Kumar Singh, Dr. Arijit Das and Dr. Gireesh Kumar Shroti under the leadership of Dr Diwakar Shende, Chairman, International Admissions Committee, who played a pivotal role in strengthening the international admission process, reaching out to prospective students, facilitating communications with applicants and coordinating the admission activities. His proactive approach and sustained efforts have contributed significantly to achieving this unprecedented milestone.
The efforts were ably supported and guided by Prof. K. M. Bhurchandi, Dean, International Affairs & Alumni, VNIT Nagpur, whose leadership in strengthening the Institute’s international engagement and academic outreach has been instrumental in creating a conducive ecosystem for international student admissions and further stay on campus.
The achievement has received strong institutional support and encouragement from the Hon’ble Director, VNIT Nagpur, Prof P.L. Patel, whose vision and leadership have provided the necessary impetus to expand VNIT Nagpur’s global presence and international academic activities.
The admissions of international students represents an important step forward in VNIT Nagpur’s journey towards greater internationalization. The presence of students from different countries will further enrich the campus environment by promoting cross-cultural interaction, global perspectives, academic exchange and collaborative learning among students and faculty.
The Institute is committed to further strengthening its international admissions and collaborations in the coming years and aspires to emerge as a leading global hub for technical education, research and innovation. This also marks new chapter in the internationalization of education journey of VNIT Nagpur, inspired by the vision of Hon Prime Minister of India to make India a developed country by 2047. The students admitted span from countries like USA, Europe, Middle East, Australia, Nepal and Nigeria. Further, if Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) would have allowed VNIT Nagpur to participate in its admission process for the year, VNIT could have touched 150 mark.
Prof V.R. Kalamkar, Dean Acad, Prof U.A. Deshpande, Dean SW, Prof Ratnesh Kumar, Dean P&D actively supported the admission processes and infrastructure requirements. On ground infrastructure preparation by Dr. Vijayakumar R.P., Associate Dean HA, Dr. NiKhil Chingalwar, DR Acad and JoSSA Chairman Dr. A.S. Dhoble leading facilitated the on campus experiences for parents and students.
