VNIT Nagpur Hosts One-Day Workshop on “Awareness Regarding Book Publication & Authoring for International Publishers”
Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur, successfully organized a one-day workshop titled “Awareness Regarding Book Publication & Authoring for International Publishers” on Saturday, July 26, 2025. The event was jointly organized by the Library and Information Resource Centre and the Office of the Dean, International and Alumni Affairs at VNIT. The workshop was conducted at the Multi-Activity Centre on campus and saw active participation from 53 faculty, researchers, and students from VNIT and other institutions.
The inaugural session began with a welcome address by Dr. Anupama Kumar, Associate Dean (ET&LS), followed by the formal welcome of dignitaries, including Prof. Dr. Mohan Lal Kolhe, Distinguished Professor, University of Agder, Norway, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Remarks were shared by Dr. V. R. Kalamkar, Dean (Academics), and Dr. K. M. Bhurchandi, Dean (International and Alumni Affairs). The inaugural session concluded with an insightful address by Prof. Kolhe, emphasizing global trends in academic publishing.
The technical sessions featured talks by eminent experts from leading international publishers:
• Mr. Rajesh Dey, Senior Commissioning Editor, Taylor & Francis, discussed publishing opportunities and manuscript preparation for global audiences.
• Mr. Hemant K. Jha, Head – Higher Education Products, McGraw Hill, shared insights into academic content development and market reach.
• Dr. Deepak Suryavanshi, Associate Editor – Applied and Engineering Sciences, Springer Nature, led a hands-on Book Writing Workshop guiding participants on structuring and submitting book proposals.
• Mr. Kedar Murdeshwar, Account Development & Events Manager, Springer Nature, delivered a keynote on Open Access Publishing, highlighting opportunities and ethical practices in scholarly dissemination.
The day concluded with a feedback session, certificate distribution, and refreshments. The workshop aimed to empower academicians and early-career researchers with the know-how of writing, publishing, and collaborating with reputed international publishers, encouraging quality contributions from Indian academia to the global knowledge ecosystem.
The entire Library team comprising of Mr. Suhas Bhopale, Mr. Amit Kumar, Mr. Vipin Kumar, Mr. Nitin Dhawale, library associates and trainees under the guidance of Mrs Poonam Harode, Assistant Librarian, and Mr. Jameel Ansari worked hard for the successful organization of the Workshop.
